Dear Taichung Happiers:

On gathering 20130105, we initiated the milestone in history; even most members dedicate their first time in life time to Taichung Happy English Club. Whether you are an avid fan of public debates or you don’t think they do any good or you’ve just never thought about debates, I propose that it is time for a fresh look at this aspect of communication, which might be a more interactive model than we are having in regular way.

Whenever we mention the word, “debate,” we imagine the person talking to each others as conjuring up images of two red-faced politicians yelling at each other, but still saying nothing of substance. Except sit-for-speech, we fully adopted the rule under New Term of Oregon ( http://xs3.tcsh.tcc.edu.tw/~fish/teach/ ... u_rool.htm). As a moderator, I hereby admire all speakers, judges and audiences are, because all you are great and awesome as below:

1. Our judges, Rio and Jane, were so justice to implement their professional and brilliant comment, and casted their final decision: both teams are tied as winner. Obviously, they never considered Jeffrey’s limited budget, but Jeffrey still likes to suffer it.

2. Both Tzong and John are the best speakers. With many laurels in champion belongings to Tzong, again it just proves he deserves it no doubt. John really overwhelmingly utilized his potential talent, and his confidence level shall break through his meters time by time from now on.

3. Even though, I am not so aquatinted with Mellisa; she really did a great job and it’s really more than what we could expected on her– “she could be accountable”. In a way, movie is movie; it’s a virtual thing to let us think “Life of Pie in Animal Story” is not a good topic in event. But, this topic is so hot and brought by Harris this time, this young tiger did the best interpretation according to his insists and believe in animal story.

4. I especially thanks for Jasmine and Kevin. Both team captains were so enthusiastic to support the event and spared time to crew up all speakers in well preparation and rehearsal. So best commanders they are, and their leading speech and ending speech were so vivid to urges what they should offer.

5. Besides, I suspect Joseph’s watch could be so faster during his first-time job (Time Master) here as well as his first-time show up in club. Wholeheartedly, welcome for his new boarding, because he is just our new blood since we ever looked for a time.

6. Kindly Host Master could immediately consider and arrange the host cased by those members Fiona, Allen, Marty and Wonderful. Their smart questions just verify they are so capable and accountable to join our host line-up.

One more time, I would like to thanks for all your participation. As this Japanese saying, 一生懸命 (いっしょうけんめい), it just reflects our best effort has been done and brainstormed; we are not alone and we will do more things by teamwork. Later on, Jeffrey will consider if some room shall be improved and will present other new innovation (more fun, more friendly, more exciting, and more in depth) game in soonest future. Please wait to see.

Best Regards,
Jeffrey

Dear Taichung Happiers:

Jeffrey urges me to present my view till the last minute, so, please allow me to say something again.

MOVIE IS NOT JUST MOVIE. It can live longer than us and pass the faith down to future generations.

Every year, about 6 million people visit the Louvre Museum in Paris to see Da Vinci’s painting “The Smile of Mona Lisa”. Why Mona Lisa is smiling remains a mystery, but, such a big number of people desire to see it means human beings are eager to embrace the unknown. Now, let’s think of the movie. It seems unbelievable. Yet, if we just ask the question “Is it true or false”, it will miss the point. The point is how we understand life. The purpose of Art and Literature is to help us to discover who we are.

Life is a process. When we are going through the process, we have to choose the interpretations of this world. We are forced to accept a difficult meaning, and the greatest meaning is about humanity—the quality of being human. Humanity also helps us to admit the animal traits within us; although we can see the animal traits we have only in some contexts. However, only when we can see who we are and what we have, we can really calm ourselves down and have the strength to move on.

The interpretation of “The Smile of Mona Lisa” is the paradox of being. The other side of a big choice is another big choice; the most important thing is to be an “in the moment” person. Why I choose the animal story in ‘Life of Pi” is the animal story emphasized more about bravery and the skills of problem-solving. We need “in the moment” thoughts and “in the moment” actions to solve problems. The tiger is like the smile of Mona Lisa to remind us to have “in the moment” thoughts and “in the moment” actions to search for more resources and keep moving.

Our actions decide the meaning of our lives. The attitude toward what happened creates our actions and the next happenings. Even if we don’t love what happens to us, we still have to deal with the evil. More importantly, before we train the tiger, we have to train ourselves. Our parents trained themselves to train us, when we were teenagers, when we were like tigers. At that moment, our parents firmly believed more than what they could see. And our parents’ love turns into a moment by moment action. They invest in our unknown future and ask for no return. It is the evidence which happens every day in every corner of this world, aren’t you willing to see it?

A tough era, like the21th Century, doesn’t allow us to look without seeing and listen without hearing. Technology stands out only when it combines with the concern of the human spirit. Strong people are everywhere, but we cherish only true friends who accompany us on the voyage of self-awareness. Not only this film, but also the book ”Have a Little Faith” advice us that faith is not just about believing, it’s also about doing. I am so honored to see Taichung Happiers working together to do something which brings us indescribable delight and encourages us to keep growing.
P.S: Before Jeffrey's reminder, Kevin, Melissa and Harris have already volunteered to host again. Special thanks to them. I am really touched.

Now, it’s time to relax again. Let’s take a look at this cuties:

Note: Bad manners don't say your confidence.

Have a faithful day every day.

Best Wishes,
Jasmine
