Dear Taichung Happiers,

Q: What's a dog’s favorite kind of pizza?
A: Pup-peroni

What kind of Happy-Chinese-New-Year language are you speaking? What will be evoked by your definition for “good luck”? Hereby, I would like to give a huge thanks to Happiers for your kind support--our 2017 has been amazing--and we are having a very successful start of 2018. Now, it permits me to take protracted pleasure in introducing our host Yang to our members and new comers. Yang joined our Club because of the learning quality and atmosphere we created together. Afterwards, the new leaf Yang has turned is becoming an internal lecturer of his company and one of our role models on continuous growth. As the air of Chinese New Year is holding us with its intense tune, Yang is leading us to reflect further—for until we do so, we will be empowered no orientation. Culture matters. And, what is the difference between your childhood and latest Chinese New Year holiday experiences? What causes it? Culture matters. How will you tango with this difference? Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, why don’t we examine and determine what will make us blossom and how to focus our time and energy on personal and professional pursuit? Culture matters. Welcome to join us in turning more into ourselves again and venturing to the Year of the Puppy with enormous excitement together.

In puppy we trust. “It’s no coincidence that man’s best friend cannot talk.” No? The hidden meaning of the Chinese animal zodiac, which illustrates the greatly appreciated relationships between human and other animals, is to encourage the intellections of harmony and co-existence. Soon we are having the Year of the Puppy 2018. Do you have a pet? Does the social etiquette dictate you must dress up your puppy? Now, let us meet these ingenious and endearing Chinese dog breeds.
http://www.pawculture.com/breed-basics/breed-lists/8-chinese-dog-breeds/ Being cunning, naughty, and naturally confident, puppies can always attract affluence and chances. https://memoryplush.com/blogs/news/a-fun-read-dogs-bring-good-fortune-according-to-chinese-culture Animals are the best teachers of our emotions. In puppy we trust. Puppy is regarded as our most faithful and bountiful animal friend—especially, the police dogs are more than helpful. Moreover, what do you reckon the wisdom of dogs that we should respect more? American humorist, newspaper columnist, and film actor Robert Benchley (September 15, 1889 – November 21, 1945) sketched it using a sense of mortality. “A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down.” In puppy we trust—even we occasionally dance in the dark—the bravest companions are always there. This enlightening story The Night I Followed the Dog includes all the symbols: emotions, compassion, empathy, honesty, and loyalty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHEhJ-EY4u4

What puppy rejoicing steals your heart? Q: What kind of dog chases anything red? A: A Bulldog. The other day, while I was reading in a lovely little café, it took me by surprise that the red round lanterns on the ceiling fit perfectly with the European interior. There was warm and welcoming music in the smile of the color red, even a hint of thrill; the excitement will prolong further; the Chinese painting on the lanterns was telling me something about what it was telling. Vitality. Family gathering. Fortune. For the new year, the desire for everything to be red provides an excellent level of spiritual illumination. Here is the brief history of the color red. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/sep/01/why-red-is-the-oldest-colour Red. The desire for everything to be red. Red clothes, red envelopes, red couplets….. The desire for everything to be red creates a variety of moods and messages, while everyone’s house is full of atmosphere. Most importantly, all of these incredibly indulge our appetite for an abundance of traditional Chinese food! http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-fo-chinese-new-year-2017/ Chinese New Year holiday, the most important festival of Chinese culture, forges a closer bond between everyone and their family members. There is no question of actually enjoying eating and talking endlessly. Nevertheless, there is a temptation just to explore more. For this reason, we can celebrate the holiday with family and with our wings. https://www.tripzilla.com/travel-chinese-new-year-holidays-2018/73107 Or? Or, just let some great films quietly ignite our collective enthusiasm for further cognition, implication, and actions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt9UZo32KMk

“Everything I know, I learned from dogs.” (from American author Nora Roberts) At critical moments, culture connections let us know what decisions we have to make and what our options are. Culture says most by saying least. Fortunately, we can also see the values of Chinese culture through the eyes of a puppy: peace and kindness; harmony (respect culture differences); morality. Either you are ready for the Chinese New Year or not, ultimately, whenever we try to cultivate our core competences through cultural influence, "time" is the only thing that matters. However, it’s never too late to make your Chinese New Year’s resolutions. http://time.com/5119144/goal-setting-new-years-resolutions/ (Like “I named my dog "5 miles" so I can tell people I walk 5 miles every day”?) It’s never too late to think of our next move—only if we allow our self-education to envelop us. Once again, reading, like a flood of light, dissolves every single castle of doubt and divergence. Yes, we are book-lovers. And, we want more. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/2xTPv88xR0nt1GVhQZRKt1L/want-to-read-more-books-ten-tips-to-help-you-turn-over-a-new-leaf Last but not least, please allow me to remind Happiers of how empathy and compassion can bring us happiness and well-being—which top most people’s New Year’s resolutions—I firmly believe so. https://qz.com/763289/denmark-has-figured-out-how-to-teach-kids-empathy-and-make-them-happier-adults/

“It is your turn now” (By Rumi)

It is your turn now,
you waited, you were patient.
The time has come,
for us to polish you.
We will transform your inner pearl
into a house of fire.
You’re a gold mine.
Did you know that,
hidden in the dirt of the earth?
It is your turn now,
to be placed in fire.
Let us cremate your impurities.

Be like a dog with two tails—every hour, every day, every year. The spirit of the New Year is the spirit of happiness; the spirit of the New Year is the spirit of positive changes; the spirit of the New Year is the spirit of collective sound. Serving as the Prime Minister of the UK twice, Winston Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) especially encouraged the authenticity of identity. “We are still masters of our fate. We are still captains of our souls.” Besides, only in our big dreams can we recognize the collective value of our happy memories. Wish the beauty of it never fade; wish all of you a pleasant year of puppy filled with passion, prospects, and prosperity. Time to make some noise! Join us. Thanks!!!
