Hello, this is Kevin. We have almost come to the end of 2012. Thankfully, we have 4-days break to embrace the new year of 2013. Because most members have their own new year’s reunion plan with their family or friends and the concept of the article is a little difficult to understand. So I supposedly few people will come to join the gathering. To my surprise, we have sixteen members joined the discussion to know more about “cloud computing” technology.
Cloud computing seems to be a fashionable buzzword recently. But if fact, it is not a new technology. It already around us and we are not aware of it. Since we have email account like yahoo or Gmail we are on the age of cloud storage. By using remote servers, our mails are secured somewhere around the world. We can use any kind of device like, PC, laptop or handheld device to access those data in any place at any time. Due to the advanced in hard disc technology, Yahoo or Google can buy cheaper and large capacity storage array for their clients to use. A news press release about a year ago, Google would like to set up a data base center in Changhua to enabling their customer easier to access Gmail or Youtube in Taiwan or Asia.
The other application is cloud computing. Our PC or handheld gadgets aren’t the most powerful computing devices. When it comes to sophisticated calculations like meteorological analysis, stock exchange, or structural analysis of DNA, we need a super computer to deal with astronomical data in a short period of time. Cloud computing technology provides new algorithm to process those data more efficiently and.
