Dear Taichung Happiers,

Happiness has 1001 faces.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y5R8K7OKSo

Happiness has 1001 faces: the happiness; the required happiness; the recalled happiness. As humans, our job, obviously, is the pursuit of happiness. Something we always have to grid ourselves for. Happiness. We’ve spent years and years looking in the dictionary for a word that means calmness, naturalness, and confidence--a word that feels like a magic spell. We wish for nothing but to be a sincere and self-effacing distributor of happiness—to be in a constant state of positive emotions--everything else is secondary. Happiness, for some, it is a struggle; for others, it seems natural. Why? Will we be happier when we pursue more and suffer more, or when we pursue less and suffer less? What helps to alleviate our misery and make us forget the troubles which weigh us down? In pursuit of happiness, what balance and peace should we be equipped with? How to define a new flavor of happiness to live our dreams and passions? Happiness has 1001 faces—it doesn’t require our perfection, but, what can we see beyond the imperfections? Why can our laughter infect everyone around us with happiness? Happiness comes from believing that nothing bad will come our way when we are in the right place. For French novelist, critic, and essayist Marcel Proust (10 July 1871 – 18 November 1922), “perfect happiness” is merely “To live in contact with those I love, with the beauties of nature, with a quantity of books and music, and to have, within easy distance, a French theater.” The strength of feeling governs the degree of happiness--a concept of human nature and what is proper to it--doesn’t it? The happiness we pursue is not by outer capture but by inner spur of spirit. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join us in witnessing our happiness stretching out its wings and giving a few flaps.

Family and friends.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHSXHTtfRsQ Home is the only place having a lasting healing effect on us. Home! Nothing makes coming home more real than grandma looks up at you and winks… How glorious the happiness is! Family is our water, air, and sun--from which ultimate security and strength are developed—family is the magic power to create light while darkness keeps drenching in. Family members are the only people in the world with whom we can be completely ourselves. Happiness is seeing Papa dancing; happiness is travelling with family; happiness is having family dinner together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJe49wVvIg All families are a fusion of stories. What is the most important chapter of yours? German philosopher, composer, and poet Wilhelm Nietzsche (15 October 1844 – 25 August 1900) called attention to why family love is the most prized present and how family makes us feel fitted, favored, and full. “In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony.” Family love transforms every heart into an open door for peace and gladness. While this sheer bliss inspires a new state of wonder, nothing can compare to the awe we experience while seeking to strengthen our family connection, tying ropes to the emotions that are calm and calming. https://fromwordstoworlds.wordpress.com ... nitiation/ If our closer ones believe in us and our dreams, then we have a life, which is worth it. There is nothing better than receiving decent and devoted love from family and friends. Friendship gives us a clearer vision of everything we want to achieve in life. Even if we are not rich and contented enough, healthy friendship doesn’t allow our fear to narrow the vision. Even if we’re facing inevitable adversities, healthy friendship builds up our belief that the choices are still ours to make. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcK3pjJH5SE

Contentment and fulfillment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JBSdWD4O0Y In pursuit of happiness, how often do we recognize the expression of contentment on our faces? In pursuit of happiness, how often do we bear Socrates’ words in our minds? "The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less." We take it for granted that having things we want will make us happy. But we end up with taking only the shortest excitement in getting. Longing for is what makes longing to reclaim. How to generate the contentment, that feels deeper, that agrees and appreciates the silent souvenirs of small joys? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-AcEmTDItg Do we really have the problem? We don’t know how fortunate we are, we cannot just be glad of what we have, and we don’t know the real meaning of value, do we? What if we can claim nothing, look for nothing, and ask for nothing? What if we can be content to allow every wanting to come and go, and to bathe our souls in the glances of sunshine? What if we can intoxicate ourselves in the vapor of the breath of relief? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm0cjSdzrSY Authentic Happiness lies in the flow of fulfillment, and fulfillment is more than success, fame, and wealth. Fulfillment is something we nurture on our own; fulfillment is focusing on authentically who we are—to further challenge ourselves to create more. Through this experience, the happiness of fulfillment lingers much longer. With the happiness of fulfillment, hope grows wings and soars. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zi7jIZkS68

Books and kindness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQyjIjgRs6E Happiness has 1001 faces. Yet, happiness is not a magic thing—it’s there in reading. Books have understood us; books feed our hungry minds; we have been taking refuge in books. Happiness is letting the perfume of books envelop us. Happiness is allowing ourselves to be transported on the wings of the words to a wider world—a requisite resource, a cave for curiosity… If we don’t make the progress into reading, we are not going to make the progress into anything else. Nevertheless, no worries—reading doesn’t have to be always deeper and heavier—we can’t love our childhood books enough. https://www.theatlantic.com/education/a ... es/566261/ Books have become our most attached advisers, gracefully ground lenses presenting new prospects of the world. When we close our eyes, breathing the books in, can we experience enjoying reading like a gourmet admiring a satisfactory and extraordinary dish? Furthermore, have you ever imagined paradise as something like a library? Have you ever felt tempted to live in a library, to experience a delicious moment of profound well-being? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl8PHJS ... pfreload=5 Happiness is not a magic thing—it’s there in reading, reading books and reading the world as well. Books and arts give away the things no one can afford, hoping to spark kindness. Kindness and happiness always go together. Albert Schweitzer, Alsatian-German theologian, philosopher, and mission doctor in equatorial Africa, simply put, “Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate. ” Kindness, which doesn’t look for anything in return along the way to happiness, can shorten the path ahead. See? All artists have the same mission: “born to serve happiness”. Art and kindness are what happiness look like, what happiness would be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwBmaT6Ds6w

From “Dear library” (by Jackie Kay)

This same book in a stranger's hands, half-known.
Those readers, kindred spirits, almost friends.
You are in transition; you are on the threshold.
The library is the place that gets you. Pure gold.

Happiness has 1001 faces--we have to watch for the open door. Art requires practice, so does a beautiful life. We might not know what all our pleasures are. Yet, we are not alone. No one does. Nonetheless, we’ve been surprised how small, everyday things can inspire us. Besides, there might not be a measure of happiness left in a life, but there could be beauty, generosity, and never-ending intensity. American essayist, poet, and philosopher Henry David Thoreau (July 12, 1817 – May 6, 1862) offered the invaluable insight. “Happiness is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it eludes you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it comes and sits softly on your shoulder.” After days and days of seeking and striving, of anticipating and demanding, and making conversations, what we inquire, quite purely, is a little peace and quietness. Still, we wonder, what our happiness percentage has been with ourselves, and what it is with others. And we cannot afford to avoid that everyone’s story is part of our stories, and our stories are interwoven with everyone’s. The criterion of our well-being is a value system of integrity and authenticity. Happiness has 1001 faces. Happiness is inner peace; happiness is kindness; happiness is connections. Happiness is trying our best to make our life and others’ lives more splendid. Join us. Thanks!!!
