Indeed, they do come more frequently than once a year—we can be stirred with a fresh start every single day. In particular, a fresh Lunar New Year comes as a complete revelation to us. Gladly and gratefully, we receive the reassurance from Historian R. Joseph Hoffmann. “Rightly understood the New Year festival is an act of faith. It is easier for the year to change than to change ourselves. But we believe that somehow, magically, one will lead to the other.” Then, what faith do we have in a fresh Lunar New Year? Time is the most terrific artist. Only when we find the artist’s intentions, can we enhance our appreciation of the meanings hidden in the art work.
