Source: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyl ... r-burkeman
supplemental materials(must see):
1. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crim ... eo-speaks/

2. youtube link: https://youtu.be/tGJreJ2xYaA

Questions:
1. Have you seen this news before? What do you think of this?

2. Eat a ready-cooked meal; saying “fine” when someone asks how we are; sending “best wishes” to strangers via email; and mumbling “sorry” when people demand cash. When feeling stressed or threatened, just fight or flight. Live the life we are used to live. Are we keeping scripted responses in familiar situations throughout our lives? Why and how? Can you give some examples?

3. Pique Technique: rather than making a standard request for something, make an unusual request that leads people to wonder why you are making that particular request (and hence pay attention to you). Example: ask to meet people at seven minutes past the hour, rather than on the hour. Do you believe this theory? Can you apply it in your daily life?

4. While most of the time we’re effectively sleepwalking through life, do we need to change our auto-piloting habit? When and how?

5. Take crisis as an opportunity. In your personal scenario (in your experience or imagination), how do you handle a crisis? Can you give us some unusual answers?

Gathering on July 15, 2017:

It seemed that a heavy rain somehow stopped many people coming to the gathering this afternoon. However, we’re glad to have Peter, a visitor, and Ken joining this gathering today! Peter and I shared ideas and experiences of learning English for the whole time. Thus, we will leave the article for the use of the next time.

The next gathering will be on August 5. We are looking forward to seeing you then.
