1. Have you ever joined any Halloween party? How was it? If you never, will you wish it can be one of the major festivals in Taiwan?

2. As we know, people do cosplay—people dress up in interesting or scary monster costumes—to celebrate Halloween. If you have a chance to join the party, which character would you like to be? Why?

3. In the video, we can see trick-or-treating is a customary practice for children on Halloween. Do you prefer to play the role of a kid or an adult? Why?

Dear Taichung Happiers,

Question: What genre of music does a mummy like the best?

It’s been a while, and I am so glad I come back to Taiwan in the beautiful autumn season—the pumpkin season, yes! For this weekend, our host Harris is asking Happiers whether you desire Halloween to be one of our major holidays in Taiwan. And we will have it more than a regular gathering, because Harris will lead a fun game after the topic discussion. Can’t wait? Hehe…..

While enjoying this playful holiday, we can also be inspired to make friends with fear, and, then, convert fear into courage. English philosopher and scientist Sir Francis Bacon (22 January 1561 – 9 April 1626) showed us how insightful he was: “To suffering there is a limit; to fearing, none.” Furthermore, Elizabethan poet Fulke Greville, Lord Brooke (3 October 1554 – 30 September 1628) articulated his thoughts in a completely convincing way.

The list of advices for fighting fears is endless. However, the award-winning author Neil Gaiman encourages young readers to find strength by reading horror stories. Neil Gaiman also eloquently quoted English writer G. K.
