Dear Taichung Happiers,
What do you enjoy looking at the sky? What kind of colors do you look for in the sky? Having the colors in the sky reminds me of the quote: “Personally, I like a chocolate-covered sky. Dark, dark chocolate. People say it suits me. I do, however, try to enjoy every color I see - the whole spectrum. A billion or so flavors, none of them quite the same, and a sky to slowly suck on. It takes the edge off the stress. It helps me relax.” (Markus Zusak, The Book Thief) Ladies and gentlemen, it’s our great pleasure to have Micro’s episode 3: 10 Ways to Reduce Stress at Work That Could Save Your Life.
Nothing is unchangeable in this world, just like the colors in the sky. Playing like the role of fears in our minds, stress is the closest friend of people in modern societies. Yet, should we regard stress as a good friend of ours? How to survive and thrive under stress? In a panel discussion at Harvard School of Public Health, Professor Laura Kubzansky reminded us that stress is not always bad--stress involves as a mechanism for dealing with short term crises. However, accumulating too much stress will cause immune system disorders. After several decades’ practice, these experts recommend mindfulness as the solution for stress reduction. Professor Ellen Langer proposes mindful solutions to problems, not standard answers without contextual perspectives, should be taught at school, so that we would avoid some problems we have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B16OlBqYtnwContexts will change sooner or later; the only right thing to do is taking positive actions. Dr. Wayde Goodall, Dean of the college of Ministry at Northwest University, Kirkland, Washington, calls for the awareness: “It isn’t stress that makes us fall – it’s how we respond to stressful events.” Before we respond to any stressful events, always remember the world is big and how prestigious we are. Yes. And remember what the obligation of the prestige is. Oh, nope, please don’t feel stressed due to this word “obligation”. My personal obligation is to look for opportunities for giving something back to society, and it is my top tip to withstand stress. How about you?
Mingling with friends is a very effective way to reduce stress. Let us find ourselves by losing ourselves in Happiers’ relaxing smiles. Join us to have the sky and the colors together. Thank you.
Best Wishes,
Jasmine
