Astrology is the art of interpretation of the stars. For more than 3000 years, people have observed the heavens and assigned meaning to the constellations above. In the beginnings, they thought of the planetary movements as messages from the gods.

"As above, so below" - this is the principle which astrology follows. The constellations of the stars and planets reflect atmospheres, events and zeitgeist on the Earth.

Astrologers use the solar system as a frame of reference for their interpretations. All planets of the solar system, including the Sun and Moon, symbolize forces within us. These are expressed in every individual on Earth as well as in events of global significance.

The Horoscope - a map of the psyche

For individuals the horoscope is a kind of "psychological map" which shows certain patterns of their personality. In order to be able to read this map, you have to know its components. A horoscope is made up of planets, signs, houses, and aspects between the planets.

Planets are our inner actors

The planets represent forces within ourselves. You can imagine them as being something like actors who perform on our inner stage. The Moon, for example, acts as your feeling nature and your inner child, Mercury represents your thinking, and Mars the fighter within you. These forces are at work within all of us, but every individual enacts them in their unique way.

Signs of the zodiac - the costumes

Each planet is placed in a particular sign of the zodiac, in Aries, Libra or Skorpio, for example. The signs give a certain colour or teint to the inner force. They show the way in which this part of the personality is expressed. You could compare the signs to the costumes or the behaviour of your inner actors. A person with Mars in Cancer will assert themselves in a completely different way than one with Mars in Aries. While the Cancerian Mars would choose psychological weapons and a round-about way to reach their goal, the Mars in Aries person will go for it directly and without hesitation.

Houses - positions on the stage

The individual forces are placed in certain houses which represent different areas of life. If we stick to the analogy of the theatre, the houses symbolise different places or positions on the stage of life. The fourth house, for example, stands for one's origin, one's roots and everything connected with them. The seventh house is the area of relationships, and planets placed in this house will express themselves particularly strongly in partnerships of all kinds. If you find, for example, Mars in the seventh house, this person will express their activity and pioneering spirit mainly in relationships.

Aspects - communication between the actors

The planets are inter-related with each other in a particular way. These inter-relations are called "aspects". Aspects express some kind of connection between the different forces of our personality. They reflect the relationships between the actors. For example, if Moon and Mercury are in Square (90° apart), the feeling nature and the thinking nature of this person are related in a particular way. You might perceive some aspects as harmonious, others appear to be more difficult

The lion is called the King of the Beasts. This animal is a good symbol to represent the kind of personality which seems to belong to most Leos. If you watch a lion you will see that he is always dignified, proud looking, and relaxed. He seems to know that he is king.
Sometimes he also enjoys being lazy and lying around in the sun. All this means that if you are a Leo you probably need plenty of time and opportunity in your life to do the things you want, things that give you joy and allow you to express yourself in a pleasurable way. Sagittarius -

The centaur is an imaginary creature who is half horse and half man. Taurus -
April 21st to May 21st

The bull is used to describe the sign of Taurus because he usually is plodding and peaceful in his movements. He is deliberate and relaxed and enjoys his food.
A typical Taurus person likes comfort, and is willing to work hard for the things that make him happy. Like a bull he does not easily lose his temper, but when he does get angry it is best to stay out of his way!

Capricorns are the type of people who have a goal towards which they will work hard and long. They usually have plenty of self-discipline and are successful in what they do.
The most important thing to a Capricorn is achievement. He will tend to take life seriously, and it is important for him to be good at something. He needs to feel that he has a skill, something he can do better than anyone else. Capricorn people are hard workers and many of them make excellent teachers, lawyers and statesmen. They are also quiet and diplomatic and know how to be subtle and tactful in their dealings with others. It may take a long time for you to get to know a Capricorn person, because he is often serious and shy by nature.
Work is very important to people with a Capricornian horoscope. Family life is equally important, and they may have a love of history and tradition. Their special and unique gift is their inner determination to succeed at what they want in life, and that means they probably will.

Gemini -
May 22nd to June 22nd

The twins are used to describe the sign of Gemini because typical Gemini people love to share ideas with someone else. The most important thing for a Gemini is communication. Gemini people are almost always curious about lots of different things. A person with strong Gemini influence in their horoscope usually enjoys being with other people, and loves to talk about the latest thing he is doing. Libra people seem to need equal amounts of everything in their lives to be happy. They need to keep a balance between work and play, and between their thoughts and their emotions. Sometimes they seem to have trouble making decisions, but this is because they must consider all sides of a question first. They are always striving for perfection and balance, and love beauty and harmony around them.
The most important thing for a Libra person is this idea of harmony. Libra people love to have people about them and to feel that they are appreciated. They usually get very interested in relationships early in life, because they need love and companionship. Lots of Libra people are artistic and appreciate beautiful things.
