Questions for Discussion:
1. What is the Euro debt crisis and how it affects our life?
2. Why do countries like Greece and Italy issue government bonds? What happens to bonds when interest rates rise? Up till to now, Greek 10-year bond have soared into double digits. ( Investopedia explains Government Bond : Lending to a national government in the country's own sovereign currency, government bonds, are free of credit risk, because the government can raise taxes or simply print more money to redeem the bond at maturity. But this does not mean risk-free.)
3. American monetary policy aim to reduce lending rate. So they implement Quantitative Easing. What is Quantitative Easing? And what are pros and cons of QE1 or QE2? & nbsp; (Investopedia explains Quantitative Easing: Central banks tend to use quantitative easing when interest rates have already been lowered to near 0% levels and have failed to produce the desired effect. The major risk of quantitative easing is that, although more money is floating around, there is still a fixed amount of goods for sale. This will eventually lead to higher prices or inflation. )
4. These financial terms are a little bit hard to understand. Is it necessary to have some knowledge of finance?
5. There are plenty of tools such as stock, mutual funds, real estate, time deposit, gold, foreign currency exchange and government bonds to handle your money. What is your investment strategy in an uncertain world?
